How to use
- Type or paste a link or any text into the box. The QR code appears as you type.
- Choose the error correction level, the border and the colors. Keep the code dark on a light background.
- Download it as PNG (choose the size) or as SVG, which stays sharp at any size. Scan it with a phone before you use it.
Examples
https://example.com
→ A QR code that opens https://example.com when scanned
Hello
→ A QR code that shows the text Hello when scannedA scanner treats text that is not a link as plain text.
A very long text of 4000 characters
→ Error: too much data for a QR codeEven at the lowest error correction level, a QR code holds at most 2953 bytes.
How it works
The text is converted to bytes and encoded into the smallest QR code version that fits it at the error correction level you choose, by the open-source node-qrcode library. The preview and the SVG download are the same vector image. The PNG download is drawn on a canvas at the pixel size you enter, from 64 to 2048.
A QR code can hold at most 2953 bytes at level L, and less at the higher levels. Text outside plain English letters, such as Korean, uses more bytes per character.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the QR code expire, or track scans?
- No. The code contains your text itself. It does not point to a service, so it never expires, and nobody counts the scans. If you want scan statistics you need a link from a tracking service.
- Which error correction level should I choose?
- The level sets how much of the code can be damaged or covered and still be read: about 7% for L, 15% for M, 25% for Q and 30% for H. Higher levels make the code denser, which holds less data and is harder to scan when printed small. M is a good default.
- How big should the border be?
- The QR standard asks for an empty border of 4 modules (the small squares) around the code. The default here is 2, which is fine on screens, but use 4 for print.
- Why will my colored QR code not scan?
- Scanners expect dark modules on a light background with strong contrast. Light-on-dark codes and low-contrast color pairs fail on some scanners, so test the code with a phone first.
- Is my text uploaded?
- No. The code is made in your browser and the text is never sent to a server.
